I'm hoping for all the weekend goings on, Barn Lot Sale included, that we have some nice weather!  There's the Chatauqua in Jeffersonville at the Speed Museum, the flurry of spring auctions, and farmers' markets are popping up all over.  Plan to make a day of it and visit all of these great events!  If you haven't checked out our Featured Items page yet, click on it to see just a sampling of some of the great items we'll have for sale.  All I can say is, I predict I'll be buying more than selling!  See you this weekend!

If you're from the area, you'll remember the old high school on the hill.  It was torn down in the 1990s (?) to make room for newer spaces of course.  AD, one of our vendors, is selling a student desk from the old high school study hall.  Check out the Featured Items for a picture - it's a classic!  AD, who is Susie Hendricks Bailey, writes, 
"Actually, this picture is in the 1956 Silver Leaves yearbook.  I knew many of the students in the picture.  The woman in the foreground is Marilyn Davis.  Her Mother worked at McKinley Cleaners for years.  I think Marilyn married Dennis Amos.  The man looking at her book is Jim Mumford.  He moved to Texas.  His sister, Donna Taylor, is still in the Sellersburg area.   Fun memories for me."  Fun memories for me too Susie.  When I went there, it was the Junior High, and this room was the Library.  I remember it well!

What could be better than fresh flowers from the yard in an antique vase?  There isn't anything that does't look great in this beautiful blue stoneware!

These cute aprons arrived over the weekend.  I ordered them for the vendors who will be at the sale, so guests can quickly spot the dealers or seek out information on an item they might want to purchase.  And I find I never have enough pockets so thought this might be helpful both for buyers and sellers!  

This weekend we worked around the yard, cleaning up some beds, and hoping for some great asparagus soon.  Finally dry enough to get the garden tilled too.

But on Saturday we got distracted and decided to uncover the old hay rake that's been out in the field since - I don't know - maybe 80 years?  Neighbor Jake (thank you again for tilling the garden!) was game for helping us with his ATV and after we cut some branches out, it was a piece of cake!  It looks pretty amazing for its age.  

This guy wants it to be Spring too!  They're saying a foot of snow this weekend.....Mother Nature has her own calendar and does what she wants! Way to go sister!

Before the brown of winter gives way to the green of Spring, it's amazing to get out and see what treasures are hidden in the yard.  Not sure where this nest had been before it ended up here; may have been in the rafters of the chicken house.  Wonder what kind of birds?
 

These shells have been popping up in the yard all the years I can remember.  Where did they come from?  Shouldn't they be near an ocean?!  Or else that's one heck of a big snail!

This really hasn't been a hard winter by any stretch, but sure can't wait for warmer days and a little sunshine.  The good news is those spring flowers are daring enough to poke their leaves and buds out and take a gander, so it must be getting close.

This hillside of Daffodils is on our farm.  Years ago, there was a house and a small quarry where all of these lovelies now reside.  Can't wait to get out and get a bouquet or two, but need it to dry up just a bit more. 

I think you're supposed to plant your potatoes on Good Friday aren't you?  Better get ready!
