2021 Barn Lot antique sale date is
Saturday, July 10
The Barn Lot Antique Sale is Saturday, July 10, 2021. We moved to July last year due to COVID, and it seemed to work well. So mark your calendars for another fun show! Our event is outdoors and there's plenty of room to social distance if that is still needed. It's always a good time and there's always lots of good pieces, quality antiques and that special something you didn't know you were looking for! Parking is on site.
WHat is an Antique?
An antique is an old collectible item.
It is collected or desirable because of its age, beauty, rarity, condition, utility, personal or emotional connection, and/or other unique features.
It is an object that represents a previous era or time period in human society. It is common practice to define "antique" as apply to objects at least 100 years old. Antique are usually objects that show some degree of craftsmanship or a certain attention to design, such as a desk or an early automobile.

A Fun Little Pop Up Show

Some of my friends and I share a love of antiques. We will be gathering for the day in the barn lot here at the old home place, our family's Hoosier Homestead farm since the 1890s. We're selling treasures that we've decided to part with, only to make room for more! This works to your favor, because you can come wander through and find your newest treasure! There's furniture, glassware, vintage clothes, pictures, primitives, and all kinds of goodies. Some years local plant vendors and some local artists join us. All of our favorite things, in one place, for a day. Stay tuned for details. As vendors join us and items emerge, I'll be posting them on Facebook!
Past Show highlights
The Barn Lot Antique Sale had its first show in 2013. Each year about a dozen antique dealers are on site. Some of those dealers have been to every show, and there's always one or two new ones, so every year there are new styles and new inventory. This is not a garage sale - we've got the good stuff! And there are some deals to be had - you've got to come look!
2016
This is just a sampling of what a dealer is bringing to this year's show - wow! I can't wait for May 28th! Don't forget - we are starting at 9:00 a.m. this year!
This just in - Old Thyme Log House Gardens is setting up too! Cheryl knows her stuff and has great things - can't wait to see what she brings!
We will also be helping Indiana Landmarks sell some antique items to raise funds for activities here in our southern region. I helped clean out this old farmhouse that was donated to Landmarks, and there were wonderful things found untouched for decades. Publications and ephemera date back to the 1940s-60s (some John Deere!), this great Remington typewriter and other items. Very interesting!

Venture Crew Raises Funds for Adventure Trip
I was lucky enough a few years ago to get to know Michael Stockelman and the young folks in Venture Crew 4027. I love that they are involved with the Barn Lot Sale. They are raising money to take adventures and learn new things and we are happy to help them in that endeavor. This year their goal is to raise funds to take a Northern Tier, 10-day High Adventure Trip. They will go into the Boundary Waters in canoes, traveling by canoe and foot (portaging the canoes and supplies to the next lake) and travel about 100-150 miles. The crew took a similar trip four years ago and only saw 18 other people the whole time. Half of those were another scout crew that was on about the same route! A white water rafting trip is also in the works as well. Come on out on May 28th and have a coffee or a hot dog and help support this great group of young people!
Hello all you antiquers! I'm so ready for a little dry, sunny weather aren't you? I haven't been able to get out in the barn much to see what's there and I'm chomping at the bit! Venture Crew will be returning this year to provide some tasty treats, and we've got some new dealers who plan to set up in addition to some who are returning. It will be a great day, so plan to stop by on May 28th!
2015 - One for the books!
Thanks to all who came out last Saturday for the third annual Barn Lot Antique Sale! It was truly a great show - and then came the storm!!! One of the dealers spotted a tornado. Straight line winds for sure. And we got hit three times. But the dealers kept their sense of humor even as tents went flying, merchandise got wet, and car windshields took a hit. But I am so grateful that no one was hurt. Thanks to all for weathering the storm with us!
And up until then, we had a GREAT show! Nice day, big crowd, great antiques!!!!! Thank you everyone for buying and selling!!!

2015 Barn Lot Antique Sale • Saturday, May 30th, 10am-4pm

Another Collector Alert!
One of our vendors just returned from an estate sale and is bringing clocks - I love clocks! Look at these clocks! School clocks, mantle clocks, banjo clocks, kitchen clocks, grandfathers....beautiful!
Collector Alert!
Country Chair Weaving hooked me up with a gentleman who is bringing Hull, McCoy, Van Briggle, Roseville, Limos and Capitadlomente. I'm told it is really nice. I can see I'll be spending way more money than I'll be making!
Country Chair Weaving Will be Demonstrating!
I am delighted to announce that Country Chair Weaving will be on hand on May 30th to demonstrate the artisan craft of chair weaving. This is practically becoming a lost art. Those of us who love antiques or have some family heirlooms or just that favorite chair we use daily, most likely have a piece or two with a distressed seat. I'm glad to know Karen and her sister Laura have started a business after having apprenticed for awhile, and will be demonstrating their craft. Can't wait to see them at work!
Venture Crew 4027 Selling Food As A Fund Raiser!
The Boy Scout Venture Crew 4027 will again be serving food as a fund raiser for their activities. They're in need of some new gear, so come on out and support these great young people! They are currently raising funds for a big trip we have planned for June, 2016. They'll travel to Ely Minnesota for a 10-day back country canoe trip into the boundary water that is between the US and Canada (http://www.ntier.org/About/Summer%20Canoe%20Trips.aspx). See more about their adventures on the Blog page.
Dealers Coming in Daily!
Interesting vendors and dealers are coming in daily so you will have great things to buy! Fryer Antiques is coming - Judi has the most awesome eye for great things. Karen has vintage jewelry she's bringing. Terry has some awesome tools! He shared some photos; see below. If you're from Sellersburg, chances are you had Mr. Prather as your Algebra teacher and you know he is famous for his gardening skills (remember those amazing pumpkins whose weight we had to guess?!). He's got gourds these days, and they'll be here too! Rod Lich is also bringing some of his barn inventory. Several local area collectors are setting up too. Can't wait to see what they have! From A Friend is returning this year from St. Louis, and antiques will be traveling south from Indianapolis as well. More to come!

Since the beginning of May when the weather turned from cold and wet to just beautiful, we've been getting ready for the Antique Sale! Getting the garden in was first priority, then we could turn our attention to prettying up the place a little. It's a yard, not a lawn as we always say, but there's still a lot of work to do. And then of course, there's antiques! I could hardly wait for the weather to improve so I could start pulling things out and see what is there. One of my favorite things to do!

I am thrilled that Munchkin Nursery & Garden will be joining us this year. Over the years Gene Bush has nurtured a lovely and magical space, which by appointment, he shares with visitors and also sells plants from his greenhouse. If you have any shade in your yard, fill it with something from Munchkin! Gene also has written a book about shade gardening, which he'll have on hand at the Sale, along with a variety of rare and unusual plants. Visiting with him is a real treat! _http://munchkinnursery.com.
